Lord of The Dance

3 comments:
I was browsing around some old photos and videos on our computer and I cannot for the life of me figure out why we never blogged about this wedding we went to in Ireland a couple of years ago.  You'll forgive the late entry once you see the video below.  I believe it was August of 2010 - we went on a trip to Scotland for several days and then across to Ireland to attend the wedding of Fionnuala, an old friend of Rodney's from his high school days.  Now this girl used to be big into Irish dance.  Her parents own an Irish dance school and as part of the wedding reception there was a lovely performance by some of the guests who used to be students at the school.

After the pros were done, they asked for some men to volunteer to come up to the front for a little activity.  Of course no one wanted to volunteer so the bride and bridesmaids went around picking people and basically dragging them up to the front to participate.  Rodney was one of the lucky ones chosen by the bride for this special game.  Once the motley crew were all lined up on the dance floor, it was explained that this was going to be an Irish dancing competition -  I was glad to have the video camera handy for this!

It's a good thing these guys all had a few drinks in them before the game started... we're all better dancers after a few beers!  As you can imagine, I was so very proud of my dear husband.  I think this was the highlight of the whole trip.  I can't remember who won the competition but it didn't really matter.  Maybe Rodney even won, I don't know, but if not I think he should have.   Rodney is the one in the waistcoat here (just in case you were about to mistake him for Michael Flatley).  Now I'm going to show you this little clip - try not to pee your pants.  :)

A Date at the Range

No comments:
Rowan's Grammy and Great Grammy came to visit this weekend. While he was being entertained, and also entertaining our guests, we took the opportunity to do something outside the house without the little guy. We decided to spend a romantic date at the local shotgun range. The last time that we'd shot together was on our honeymoon in Barbados. It turns out that even though it was only Jen's second time, she's a pretty good shot. We think that collectively we hit about 75% of the clays. Jen might have a new day job as a professional shooter.

Typical Night

It's another exciting night in the Nelson house.  It's ironic I'm the only one awake, because Rodney and Sophie slept through the night and the Wee Yin has slept pretty much all day.  I think we should all go to bed soon.

Mummy's Little Helper

Sometimes Rowan likes to help out in the kitchen, but just because he likes to be close to his mummy as much as possible.
If Rowan gets to be carried around, then Sophie would like to be carried around the house too, whenever possible.

Poop-splosion

I don't know how on earth he managed to get poop all up the front AND back of his outfit, but he did.  Now THAT's skill for you, right there.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

With all of Rodney's recent posts featuring smiling parents and a sleeping baby, you'd think it was all sunshine and rainbows around here.  Well, sometimes the reality is slightly less idyllic.  Today I recorded a small sampling of Rowan's daily activities.  We started out well, hanging out with Sophie and then Rowan practicing his brand new smiling skills...

But with a newborn, the tide can turn in the blink of an eye...there's lots of drooling, pooping all over clothes, and crying.  And that's just Rodney and me!  ;)  This wee guy is definitely keeping us busy.  It's a good thing he's so cute!

Growing Boy

Little Rowan loves his milk so much that he has just passed the 9lb mark at his last weigh in, averaging about 1.5oz of weight gain per day. We better work quickly so he uses all those newborn clothes. He'll be too big for them in no time.
