Stache Off

1 comment:
What is a stache off you might ask. Well, as the moustache seems to have fallen off the fashion wagon since it's popularity in the eighties, sometimes you need a reason to grow one. So the task was set - we had two weeks to grow a moustache that we could be proud of. The only prize was the general amusment gained by others. So this weekend there was a moustache party at which accessories were encouraged for general enhancement of the moustache's character. We had a good turnout and had quite a variety of styles.
As you can see, I went for the mid western / trucker / white trash look. I've had this 12 point buck t-shirt for quite a while and finally had a good reason to wear it.I think Ashton was going for the general creepy look.Professor Plum, in the kitchen, with the candlestick. Those unwilling or unable to grow facial hair were supplied with the stick-on variety....and the extras went to good use.

Guitar Build - Day 10

2 comments:
Luckily I'm not counting consecutive days for this guitar build because it has been shelved for a while. So officially this is day 10. This was a big step in the process. Today I glued the maple top onto the mahogany back. As you can see it required just about every clamp that we have in the shop. Hopefully it is still in one piece tomorrow. Then it will be on to some glue cleanup and some pickup routing.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

No comments:
It was that time of year again. When thousands of people flock to New Haven to buy green stuff and drink in the streets. Oh, and there's a parade. Here's the saint himself, looking pretty good for his age.Thousands of people lined the streets. The parade takes a couple of hours to make its way through the city.
As you can see, this car has some messed up steering. The rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front. The Pickard Chilton office overlooks the parade route so we watched from the second floor. Some people took the partying a little too far and had to be arrested. The cops had vans waiting nearby for them to sober up in - a portable drunk tank you might say.

Trailer Build - Day 2

No comments:
The trailer is mostly finished after some more work on it today. Now we need to register it, figure out how to put the scooter on the trailer safely and wait for warmer weather so we can plan a trip.

Trailer Build - Day 1

No comments:
The warm weather gave us the opportunity to do a couple of projects that have been waiting in the wings. So that we can take our scooter a little further afield we decided to get a trailer, and that of course meant we would need a hitch. Today's first project was to install a Curt hitch receiver. According to the instructions it should take 45 minutes to install. When you factor in the time to remove five exhaust hangers and jacking the car several times, it ultimately took about 2 hours. We also found out that our driveway may end up with a few scrapes because of our now slightly lower ground clearance.
After a lot of research into trailers we decided to order one that we would have to put together ourselves. It is also probably one of the smallest that we could find. As you can see, it arrived in several boxes. The expected build time is 4 hours. As our hitch install had taken longer than expected, we ended up starting this project a little late in the day. So it is now about half built and will be finished tomorrow.

My Lips Hurt Real Bad!

2 comments:
Flumpy was just telling me this morning how badly his lips are hurting in this cold, dry weather. Luckily, a package arrived today from our friends at The Beneficial Bee! For those of you who don't know, The Beneficial Bee is owned by our friends, Jess and Glenn - they make organic beeswax lip balms (see link on right for their website and blog). Well, when your lips are as big as Flumpy's, it's important to moisturize.

The Cutest Pet Ever

No comments:
We haven't been doing much lately due to busy work schedules and the snowy weather. So I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce you all to the cutest pet ever: Fitty.

Fitty is my car, a 2008 Honda Fit. I purchased him back in July of last year but it took me a while to get around to taking a picture of him for the blog. Anyway, here he is in all his glory.Fitty and I spend a lot of time together due to my work. I feel bad bringing Fitty to some of the neighborhoods I have to visit so I bought him a nice hot pink "Club" for protection. He is comfy and reliable and just so cute. Rodney calls him the paper bag because he does tend to blow around a little on the highway on a really windy day but I think Rodney's just jealous. :)

In other news, Sparky's new trailer arrived in the mail today. It comes in several boxes for self assembly so maybe if the weather cooperates we'll build it this weekend. The trailer will allow us to bring Buddy the scooter on field trips. Yay!
