Barcelona

On our way to Ireland we spent a couple of days in Barcelona. Here's a selection of photos from the trip.

A typical street in the old parts of BarcelonaWe had a lot to see in just two days so we rented a scooter to get around. Sagrada Familia, designed by Antoni Gaudi, is still under construction. It was started in 1882 and is estimated to be completed 20 years from now.Our hotel "Hotel Principal" was just two blocks from La RamblaBarcelona pavilion designed by Mies Van De RoheSpanish food and SangriaPark Guell

San Francisco

No comments:
So it's been a month since I last posted anything here. We've been travelling around and I just haven't had the time. I thought that I would post some photos from our California trip. We flew out to San Francisco for a wedding. The wedding was actually a 5 hour drive north, but we stayed in the city for a day and did plenty of walking. We walked about five miles but it felt like ten because there are no flat streets in San francisco.
Here's a residential street that is quite common. The cars are parked perpendicular to the curb but on many streets there is regular parallel parking. I noticed that everyone in the city knows to turn their wheels towards the curb before leaving their car.
Filbert street. Part of the car chase in the Bullitt movie took place on that hill in the distance. The church is also prominently featured in the Clint Eastwood movies Dirty Harry and The Dead Pool.
The Xanadu Gallery is San Francisco's only Frank Lloyd Wright designed building. It was a physical prototype for the circular ramp at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
